Topic: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

Would people be interested at all in doing a sort of 'community podcast' recorded via a Google Hangout or something, in which whoever wants to join in can do and we have a conversation about whatever takes our fancy. I'm thinking just something for forum members, but if it happens and people like it - may as well go public.

So, is this something any of you guys would be interested in participating in/listening to?

I would never lie. I willfully participate in a campaign of misinformation.

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

Dunno if I'd participate, depends on the subject, but I'd definitely listen to that. smile

If the time works, happy to take part

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

Awesome, when's best for everybody then? Usual live DIF time?

Subject-wise, I was thinking maybe a little talk about Doctor Who? It's all up to you guys, make some suggestions!

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

There's plenty to say about DW. I like that idea.

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

I'd be down if you keep it going for more episodes. I unfortunately know absolutely nothing at all about Dr Who, beyond the fact that he's a doctor and people keep forgetting his name.

I thought you meant Disc World.

sad

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

I would love to be a part of this and while I am only familiar with the 9th and 10th doctors, I would be willing to play the knows nothing guy wink
However, my work schedule means I am usually working weekends. So, I might just have to listen on this one

God loves you!

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

Some people here know much about the older series, while others (including me) are only familiar with the 2005 revival. A discussion about the older series, and how the two are connected/different, would be very interesting.

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

I like the sound of that, how about these sections as some sort of episode plan?

Intro's - Who everybody is, their favourite Doctor and how they got into the show in the first place.
What makes Doctor Who 'special'?
New and old compare & contrast.
Where to start with both the new and old series.
Expectations & hopes for the future.

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

I can do this if we go this weekend. More or less open.

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

This weekend? Sure. But if the number of europeans is larger than the US reps, we should set it a bit earlier than 2AM .

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

My schedule is notoriously rigid, but I'm interested. I don't know what Google Hangout is, but I would imagine Skype would work. I've had several people on that at once.

Regardless: good microphones, everyone. Ask yourself, "Do I have a microphone that is up to the task? Do I know how to avoid constantly bumping and/or puffing into the microphone? Can I position it away from hard surfaces to capture my voice without much reverb? Can I avoid capturing all the noise in my barracks/housing project/council estate/cell block?"

Warning: I'm probably rewriting this post as you read it.

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

I would recommend a test run to see how good the audio pick up is for everyone.
My cell block is notoriously noisy so I will need to get a new microphone to make sure I just get my voice and not the screeches of the other crazy people wink

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

Aye, we should all just hang out in something to see if our mics are up to the challenge. I've got a Blue Snowball, which is a decent mic, but my computer isn't the quietest beast around and the mic is probably too good for my somewhat noisy environment tongue

Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast

I've got the next few hours clear. Also, a professional level mic meant for recording vocals. Not a condensator mic, a dynamic one, but it should do the trick just nicely. Also, sound is being processed by a Roland UA-55.
